MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
Description, Qualifications & Voting Privileges of Members
Membership is for individual interior designers or interior design associations that subscribe to the following Criteria and Profile:
The Criteria for Professionalism promotes and encourages:
1) A requirement covering previous education and experience;
2) A requirement of passage of examinations approved and required for certification in the state of California;
3) A professional code of ethics and practice guidelines;
4) Continuing education units (CEU).
The Profile of an Interior Designer is defined as a person qualified by education, experience and examination to:
1) Identify, research, and creatively solve problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior
environment;
2) Perform services relative to interior spaces programming, design analysis, space planning and aesthetics -- using
specialized knowledge of interior construction elements, building codes, equipment, and furnishings;
3) Prepare non-structural, non-seismic drawings and documents relative to the design of interior spaces in order to
enhance and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
Membership Categories:
Association Member
Association Members are the California Chapters of professional interior design and/or furnishings associations of which
a minimum of 50% of its total membership have designated their primary occupation as interior designer. The CLCID Association Members promote and encourage the Criteria for Professionalism
(above) and align their interior design members with the Profile of an Interior Designer (above).
By selecting this membership category, the association will proxy their CLCID
Board vote to their CLCID Association Member Board representative. The association's annual membership dues are payable by the association directly to CLCID as defined in this application.
Individual Member
An Individual Member is an individual who does not meet the definition of an Association Member or does not choose
to affiliate through their association. The Individual Member promotes and encourages the Criteria for Professionalism (above) and aligns with the Profile of an Interior Designer
(above).
By selecting this membership category, you will proxy your CLCID Board vote to your Individual Member CLCID Board representatives.
Your annual membership dues are payable directly to CLCID. .
Annual Dues: $50.00/year.
Voting
Each individual member of an Association Member in good standing, and each Individual Member in good standing, may vote at
Annual Meetings or Special Meetings of Members.
The CLCID Board of Directors consists of an Executive Committee, one representative from each Association Member, and two
Individual Members (representing all Individual Members) as elected by the Board of Directors.
