As we begin a new decade with new faces and a renewed sense of purpose, we wanted to share with you, the vision of
CLCID and some of the changes you may see very soon.
During these trying economic times we find ourselves in the same position as many other
non-profit organizations, businesses and households – having to trim budgets, explore ways to increase revenue, and get back to the basics. As challenging as this may be, it gives us the opportunity to evaluate
the existing structure and function of our organization and bring forth some changes that will better serve our membership CLCID's Mission has been inclusivity of all who are in the Interior Design
profession. In order to do this we decided to not focus our membership only on Certified Interior Designers, but to expand our membership to all of those who support residential and commercial design. By
increasing membership involvement, CLCID will become a stronger voice supporting all of us in the business of Interior Design, and those members that depend on the strength of the profession for their continued
success. While most of our efforts have been concentrated on defending Interior Designers right to work in the field without the unfair burden of licensing, we plan to look at some of the other
legislative efforts that have negatively affected our business. There have been many changes imposed on us at the federal, state and local level that have had an impact on our projects. We need to
stay informed of these proposed changes to the way we do business in order to serve our clients efficiently and to do our part to improve the business climate without compromising our pledge to protect the health,
safety and welfare of the general public.

Look for us to be vocal on issues that restrict our rights to improve the living, working, and recreation
environment of California residents. We will be diligently watching for any proposed legislation that will have a restrictive, negative impact and result in unintended consequences.
In 2010 you will see a streamlined administration with most of the day to day activity of CLCID handled by the
Executive officers. The CLCID bylaws, policies, and procedures have been updated to reflect the mission of the
organization and to clearly outline the responsibilities of its volunteer board of directors and to better serve its members
We will continue to offer the 2009 Codes Manual, the IDEX classes and are planning an Industry Showcase for next year. Thank you for your continued support. from The CLCID Board of Directors
